What the Verified mark means

A checkmark on the internet usually means somebody paid. Ours is meant to be worth more than that, which only works if we are exact about what it claims.

What it claims

Verified means one thing: we confirmed that the person running this listing runs the business. We check that with an email address on the business's own website domain, or by hand using its phone number or website. That is the entire claim.

How it relates to paying

Free listings and Pro pages both carry it, because the check behind it is the same for both. Paying for Pro does not produce a better one.

What it does not claim

• Not a rating. We do not score anyone. Where a Google rating appears on a page it is labeled as Google's number, with a link to the reviews, because it is theirs and not ours.
• Not a review or an endorsement. We have not inspected anybody's work. The mark on a bad detailer means we checked who controls the listing, nothing more.
• Not an inspection. Nobody at Wash Near Me has visited the premises, looked at the equipment, or confirmed the photos. The mark is only about who runs the listing.
• Not a guarantee. We do not hold money, book the job or stand behind the work. You are hiring the business directly.
• Not insurance or licensing. We do not verify either. Ask the business.

When the mark appears

A business that lists itself is listed as soon as its email is confirmed, without the mark. The mark appears once we confirm who runs it: straight away when the email is on the business's website domain, otherwise after a person checks. Claiming a listing that is already listed changes nothing public until the claim is confirmed, so nobody can take over a business they do not run.

If the wrong person is running a listing

Tell us with the URL and something that shows the business is yours. We would rather investigate a false alarm than leave a real one standing.
